Maratoto Kitchen Renovation - Waikato, 2022

A beautiful lifestyle property deserves a kitchen that works as well as it looks. This renovation of a Lockwood home in Maratoto Valley took a small, dark kitchen and transformed it into a light-filled, contemporary space.

Working within the constraints of a Lockwood home - the brief was to expand the kitchen footprint, flood it with light, and create a space that was both efficient and calm. Melteca Oiled Legno cabinetry brings warmth throughout, paired with benchtops in stainless steel and white stone, and a touch of teal to bring it together.

The island is the heart of the kitchen, housing the cooktop and maximising storage on all sides. Where a scullery wasn't possible, a bespoke baking station at the side of the island does the job instead - keeping appliances and ingredients close at hand but out of sight when not in use. A ceiling-mounted extractor keeps the sightlines clean above.

The result is a kitchen that feels generous, considered and genuinely easy to live in.
